About This Service

What is NDIS High-Intensity Nursing?

NDIS high-intensity supports are complex, higher-risk daily activities and clinical procedures that require nurse-led delivery or specialised training — the kind of care that historically kept people in hospital or residential facilities. With the right team, it can be delivered safely in your own home.

This care is funded under the High Intensity Daily Personal Activities and Community Nursing lines of your Core Supports budget, and must be delivered by workers who meet the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors set by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

Mayah Care is one of very few Perth providers qualified across the full range of high-intensity supports — ventilator management, tracheostomy care, PEG and enteral feeding, complex bowel care, subcutaneous injections, severe dysphagia management and complex wound care — all delivered with genuine compassion and clinical excellence.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about this service — and how to get started with Mayah Care.

What is the difference between personal care and community nursing?
Personal care involves support with everyday tasks like showering and dressing, and can be delivered by trained support workers. Community nursing involves clinical health care procedures — wound care, catheter management, medication administration, tracheostomy care — that must be performed by a qualified registered or enrolled nurse. Both can be funded through your NDIS plan, but they are separate services with different staffing requirements.
Does Mayah Care provide 24/7 nursing support?
We offer flexible nursing hours including mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays. For participants requiring around-the-clock clinical nursing support, we can discuss scheduling arrangements to ensure continuous care. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements.
How do I access community nursing through my NDIS plan?
Community nursing and high intensity personal activities must be specifically funded in your NDIS plan. If you have complex health needs, your treating physician, hospital, or Support Coordinator can support you to request this funding. Look for High Intensity Daily Personal Activities or Community Nursing Care in your Core Supports budget. Mayah Care can also help clarify what funding you may be eligible for — call us for a free conversation.
Are your nurses registered with AHPRA?
Yes. All nursing care at Mayah Care is delivered by nurses registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). We do not use unqualified staff for any clinical nursing task. All our nurses also meet the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors as required by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
