What is NDIS Plan Management?

NDIS Plan Management is a Capacity Building support that gives you a plan manager to handle the financial administration of your NDIS plan. Instead of having the NDIA manage your payments directly (Agency Managed), or managing everything yourself (Self Managed), plan management gives you the best of both worlds — the freedom and choice of self-management, with the administration handled for you.

With a plan manager, you can use both NDIS registered and unregistered providers — significantly expanding your choice of supports. Your plan manager receives invoices from your providers, checks them, and processes payment from your plan, while tracking your spending and providing regular statements.

Importantly, plan management is funded separately in your NDIS plan — it does not come out of your other support budgets. This means choosing plan management costs you nothing from your existing supports funding.

Does plan management cost me money from my existing supports budget?
No. Plan management is funded by a separate line item in your NDIS plan under Capacity Building — Improved Life Choices. It does not reduce your Core Supports, Capacity Building, or Capital Supports budgets. When requesting plan management at your planning meeting, ask the NDIA to include the plan management funding line in your plan.
Can I switch to plan management from agency managed funding?
Yes. You can request to change your plan management type at your next plan review, or by requesting an in-plan review if your circumstances have changed. Contact Mayah Care and we can help you understand the process and prepare for your review conversation with the NDIS.
Can I still use NDIS registered providers if I am plan managed?
Yes — plan management gives you access to both registered and unregistered providers. You have complete freedom to choose whichever providers best meet your needs, as long as the supports are in line with your plan and NDIS reasonable and necessary criteria.
How quickly does Mayah Care process invoices?
We aim to process all invoices within 2-5 business days of receipt. We check all invoices against your plan budgets and the NDIS price guide before processing to ensure accuracy and compliance. You will be notified if there is any issue with an invoice.
