What Is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
SIL is NDIS funding for people who need help with daily tasks to live as independently as possible in a shared or individual home — support with cooking, cleaning, personal care and, where needed, overnight assistance. It's funded under Core Supports, separate from your rent or accommodation costs.
How SIL Funding Is Assessed
The NDIA assesses your support needs through a "Roster of Care" — a schedule of exactly when and how much support you need across a typical week, including overnight and active-night support if required. This becomes the basis of your SIL quote and funding level.
1. Assessment
We work with you and your planner to document your daily support needs, building an accurate Roster of Care.
2. Quote & Approval
A SIL quote is submitted to the NDIA for approval, based on the roster and the NDIS Price Guide.
3. Support Begins
Once approved, your support workers begin delivering the agreed hours — consistent faces, person-centred care.
SIL vs. Your Own Home
SIL is about the support, not the house — you can live in a Mayah Care-supported share home, or receive SIL support in your own home if the setup suits. We'll help you understand what's right for your situation and goals.
How Mayah Care Helps
We manage the roster, staffing consistency and reporting so your SIL support runs smoothly — and review it regularly to make sure it still matches your goals and needs.
