You Can Change Providers at Any Time
Many participants don't realise this: you are never locked into an NDIS provider. If a provider isn't meeting your needs, you have the right to change — at any point in your plan, not just at review.
Steps to Switch Providers
1. Check Your Service Agreement
Most agreements require simple written notice (commonly 14–28 days) rather than a fixed lock-in term.
2. Give Notice
Notify your current provider in writing that you wish to end services, referencing your agreement's notice period.
3. Set Up the New Provider
Sign a new service agreement, and — if plan-managed or NDIA-managed — update your provider details with your plan manager or the NDIA.
4. Handover
Ask your outgoing provider for any relevant reports or plans so your new provider can pick up support without a gap.
Why Families Choose to Switch
Common reasons include inconsistent staff, poor communication, missed shifts, or simply wanting a provider who better understands your culture, goals or complex care needs.
